Press Release Body = Honolulu, Hawaii, 6 June 2007: Did you know that you are less likely to get sick from cleaning your bathroom than from touching your kitchen counter?
Honolulu-based biotechnology company Lumilife SystemsT announced today that primary testing of their revolutionary cleaning system performed at the University of Arizona under the guidance of Dr. Charles P. Gerba has shown Lumilife SystemsT -treated surfaces eliminated 99% of Escherichia coli ATCC 15597 within 24 hours. Escherichia coli ATCC 15597, commonly known as E. coli, is a potentially deadly bacteria responsible for the recall of food products across the nation, most recently the June 6, 2007, California recall of 75,000 pounds of potentially contaminated ground beef throughout the Western states.
Promising results were also received in testing when Lumilife SystemsT -treated surfaces stopped the growth of Salmonella bacteria by 99.9% within a 24-hour period.
Aspergillus niger,--or household mold--a problem in Hawaii's humid climate, also reacted favorably to the Lumilife SystemsT cleaning technology as preliminary testing showed no mold growth nine days after surfaces treated with the product were contaminated in a laboratory setting.
Testing conducted on the S. areus bacteria, commonly known as staph, also showed promising results when treated surfaces eliminated 99% of the bacteria within a 24-hour period.
Lumilife SystemsT, a patented cleaning technology, uses a spray protectant harnessing the power of photo catalytic oxidation (PCO) in combination with a PCO-infused light bulb which, when used together, has the potential to decrease the levels of e. coli, staph, household mold and salmonella in residential and commercial spaces.
"We see this as a long-term cleaning and disinfecting product and not just a quick fix," says John Dimitrion, CEO of Lumilife SystemsT, "We believe Lumilife SystemsT is the solution microbiologists have been searching for and fully expect that continued testing performed by Dr. Gerba will be equally as effective against influenza and other infectious viruses."
Lumilife SystemsT will launch their cleaning technology onto the consumer market at the Honolulu Home & Garden Expo held at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, June 15-17, 2007. The product will also be available through their nationwide marketing broadcast campaign scheduled for release towards the end of June, 2007, as well as on their website at www.lumilifesystems.com.
